ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: 64 WHALER INTO THE MIST

This shot was taken early one morning in little Pleasant Bay between Orleans Massachusetts and Chatham on The Cape. There is a tendency in late spring and early summer for mornings to start with a dense fog and as the morning clears, the apparent lost summer day transforms into a gem. This photograph captures the transformation from frog to prince as the fairy tale would have it. The reflection of the clouds on the dead calm water adds a level of mystery and intrigue. The boat that you see is a 1964, 17 ft. Boston Whaler. At that point, this model was called the Nauset, after Nauset Beach which is literally on the horizon in the photo. It was a great day but then again, out on the water in Little Pleasant Bay and Pleasant Bay, there are no bad days.
